A mentally tough team wins that game. A non-Beilein team wins that game and shares the Big 10 title. LOL. The Michigan band played the fight song at the end after IU won it. MAJOR MAJOR CHOKE.
I don't like to use the term "choke" but you are absolutely correct. It had nothing to do with Beilein, though. Players missed free throws and played no defense during the last 1 minute. That is ALL on the players, not the coach.
Lack of rebounding -- UM was killed on the boards again -- made this game closer than it should have been. The fact that they played no defense could be on the coach and the staff, too. Better disciplined teams continue to play for 40 minutes. I realize I'm tough on UM's coach. Not completely his fault, but he doesn't have the intangibles. He's a good coach. Nothing more, nothing less. He doesn't have the capacity to make his players go beyond their potential. Izzo has it; Beilein doesn't. But you're mostly right. The players certainly could have paved the way to a victory here with a few FTs.
That last rebound that hung on the rim: rolls in, Michigan wins; rolls off, Indiana wins. I wonder what the views would be if it rolled in?
Look. im no U if M fan and I didn't see the game. Maybe your boys blew a big lead? But "irregardless" looked to me, based on the final score, scotre that they put up a great effort against what was arguably the best college team in the country.,,sounds like the win was there for you, but I wouldn't be too hard on them.
If it rolls in, I would say that UM dodged a bullet. IU is a better team. On a neutral court, it will take a great effort for UM to beat IU. And some rebounds. Holy smokes, this team doesn't rebound. One silver lining: UM loss keeps OSU from getting a share.
Team has no real leapers on the front line. Robinson is too short (6' 6") to go up against taller leapers. McGrady can't jump at all. He can barely dunk at 6' 10". They've got to recruit some jumpers if they want to compete at the highest level.
Definitely they were outclassed in the rebound department. .but still a five point lead with 65 seconds left that should have been a win when you are a top 7 team playing at home......that can make free throws. IU played it just right fouling each time allowing only a couple of ticks off the clock. As good as Trey Burke is, he still dribbles it to long with the rest of the team watching instead of getting open. The comment about. McGary was correct. ..dude has problem jumping ala Moose. ...that left handed layup that he missed in crunch time should havd been a two handed dunk....instead that was biggest missed bunny of the game. First Wolverine home loss of the season, but an instant classic. I guess the key stat of the game was the Hoosiers outboarding the Wolverines 47-26. Cody Zeller got called for traveling twice....those would have been no calls in Bloomington. Because of his unorthodox penchant moving in the paint around the hoop, he will probably get similar calls in the NBA.
If UM beats Penn State, they tie for the Big 10 title. Sigh. Time to put the regular season in the rear-view mirror. Second season coming up. The madness.
I think what gazoo was trying to say was that the Penn State loss was a supposed guaranteed W fof the Wolverines especially since Nittany Lions were winless in conference play. A win there at Happy Valley would of given them either a share or out right big 10 title whether they won or lost yesterday. But alas.....any team could have won it out right. ..just so happen the Hoosiers were the only team to beat M twice or one the top 5 twice and get the crown.
Oh, I see. He is talking about the game earlier this season And not the upcoming game. Yeah, that's true but All of the teams that were in contention could find a game or two that they would like to have back. That Penn State loss was inexcusable.
