They are undefeated in non-conference play, so conventional wisdom is they win all the way until they meet Indiana in the final four. In fact if were really sold on the big 10 teams, there is a possibilty that OSU, MSU, IU and Michigan could all wind up in the final four. In fact I am going to create a new ESPN bracket that sets up that scenario up. Just have to decide which one I pick as the overall winner.
Nate Wolters, Michigan's struggles of late, and the upset last year to Ohio has some people predicting upset. But I can't see it. This isn't last year's team. And the Jackrabbits aren't a Big 10 team that you have to play multiple times a year. That should work well for Mr. GR3. Plus this team looked shaky on the road, and these are essentially home games. I think Michigan finally starts playing up to that talent level of the team that can beat Indiana rather than the team that loses to Penn State.
So far Michigan playing the Jackrabbits like they are a Big 10 team....the defense held them to no points for over 4 minutes and M could not put them away. It smells like the Wisconsin game as Burke is trying to score and dribble too much instead of looking for his teammates who are actually scoring when they shoot. Meanwhile Burke is 0-7.....2 pts and two assists.
I've always liked Bill Raftery as a color guy. There's something really poetic about the way he describes and analyzes basketball games.
Good win for Michigan despite Burke having a subpar shooting game. Finally it appears that Bielein made an adjustment at half time telling Burke to facilitate and stop worrying about scoring 20 points. He finished with 6 and 7. Let's hope his back was hurt that bad and he is healthy on Saturday damaged to bad Glen Robinson was finally able to face a non Big 10 team and he broke out with 8-9 shooting, including the first 11 points of the second half. Tim Jr was also big as they both scored 21 points a piece. If these two are on, then Michigan gets at least to the elite 8. Star of the game was the other frosh...Mitch McGary who frustrated the Jackrabbits in the middle with 13 pts and 9 boards. Michigan held high scoring Nate Wolters to 3-14 shooting and only 10 points. The Jackrabbits played only six guys and four of the starters played all 40 minutes and the fifth starter Chad White played 32...maybe because he was 1-8 shooting. Michigan played one of their better defensive games, but it could have been due to the fact that the rabbits were reduced to slow turtles with them probably gasping for air in the end. I think Rachel Nichols indicated a couple of the bench players had a touch of the flu.
(camera is on VCU coach Shaka Smart) RAFF: nice outfit ...he must have good people dressing him up VERNE: better than the people dressing US!! RAFF: dont think my wife gonna like that! lmao!!!
RAFF: I LEARNED a few things when i went to Mexico VERN: Oh yeah//Like what? RAFF: Una cerveza, por favor!!
Wow! Meechigan dominated. It is beyond me why VCU was a #5 while Michigan was a #4. It looked to me like Michigan had a much tougher schedule and better results against good teams. I hope Michigan State is motivated by that performance. Congratulations. Well done. Sweet Sixteen!
I'm gonna go with this guy's post..........Two down.......Bring on Kansas.....or those powder blue boys.......
If Mitch McGary can play like this in the middle for the rest of tourney, they can make the final four...especially playing vs non conference teams. Though they could play Sparty in the semis and IU in finals.
