Safe to say Gentry's doing quite well in this series giving his team a chance to win it. Phoenix is one of the best teams in the league at playing to their strengths
Suns showing some heart so far. They're refusing to fold against the strong performance by LA. They were down by 18 at one point, now the lead is down to 4 points in the 4th.
Gaaaa..... Artest wins it for the Lakers. The Suns fought and finally tied the game with 3.5 seconds to go. They D-up Kobe really well to force a horrible shot, Gasol misses the tip in and Ron-Ron comes out of nowhere to put it in at the buzzer. Game over. Suns won't recover from this.
Valiant effort by the Suns, but to many guys guarding Kobe and not enough under the hoop or in the paint to box out Artest from getting the rebound and the put back hoop. Second time in this playoffs that the Lakers have grabbed a W on Kobe last second miss and a team mate grabs a rebound and a put back. It happen in the first round vs the Thunder too.
Dre, Kobe doesn't always win it in the end, does he? Talk about a bad move so far. I think if the Lakers had Ariza, instead of Artest, they would be coasting. No way to leave Ariza wide open. The Lakers have no three point shooting other than Kobe and no speed in the line up. With Kobe and the best front line, they are having problems...
It was a tough night for the Suns all around. Alvin Gentry lost his lunch but not his sense of humor - Ball Don't Lie - NBA - Yahoo! Sports
At least the Suns went down fighting with John McCain in the crowd, but Kobe was Jordan tonight....in fact I can almost hear Jordan now saying "dam this dude is almost as good as me" How many shots did Kobe make down the stretch with someone in his face?? If the Celtics can shut everyone else down, they may win the whole shebang, despite any Kobe heroics......but if the Lakers win game one, it's over. Steve Nash and Grant Hill despite their stoic careers, still can't get to the finals, let alone win one. Mean while Kobe and Derek Fisher of all people are looking for a 5th ring....
I think the Suns real chance of beating LA went away when Lopez went down, and it wasn't all that much of a chance with him. Beyond Nash and occasionally Amare, it's all roleplayers. Few if any of them would start on a good team.
