I didn't see a (non-Wings) playoff thread posted yet and I just HAD make one so I could talk about the #8 Habs beating the #1 seed Caps in game seven tonight!!! It's only the 9th time in league history that the #8 beat #1 in the playoffs. It's the first time EVER, that a #8 team has come back from a 3-1 series deficit to beat the #1 seed. It was tied for the 5th biggest playoff upset (in terms of regular season point differential) in league history. The Habs held Washington's #1 ranked Power Play to 1 for 33 in the series. I didn't think they had a chance in this series. Even after Montreal stole game #1 of the series, I didn't think they'd win it. When they were down 3 games to 1, I thought they'd lose game 5. Then they were down 3-2 and I thought they'd lose game 6. Even after the series was tied, I thought they'd lose tonight. I think I'm going to bet against them in the next round too. It's worked well so far.
Montreal has won as many Stanley cups as the Yankees have won world series. It would be nice to see them last awhile in these playoffs.
Ovies play off career is soon to be compared to Jumbo Joes. He didn't impress in the Olympics either when it mattered.

The penalties killed us. Some were bad calls, some we earned. If we had an elite goalie, we might stand a chance. Howard is ok, but he's not special. Man does Lidstrom ever look old out there.
What I am noticing in the first two games, that despite some new blood we are still old. We dominated the Sharks in the regular season and now they are returning the favor when it counts the most. They are quicker to the puck and seem to attack young Jimmy with all of the sharks and we are still shooting 20 foot shots hoping to get it between and under the goalies legs. '' No two on ones or they don't seem fast enough to set a play draw the goalie and then surprise the goalie. But alas there were to many penalties (nine I believe) and they capitalized on them. Must get game 3 and 4 to extend this beyond 5. GO WINGS!!
It was a perfect sports day for me today. The Canadiens won, The Blue Jays won and the Windsor Spitfires won to go up 3-0 in the OHL Finals. And I got to watch all 3 games! Oh... we also had a party for my daughter's 5th birthday today.
Uhh I think we are trouble now.....down 0-3 the Wings are playing just like you would expect a team to fare vs a # 1 seed. They have gotten beat up now in two straight games in the third qtr where they dominated in the first round. I thought being up 3-1 at the end of 2 periods and being at home was enough to make this a series, but looks like an early exit for the guys in red.. Could not watch the game from my hotel room, but it looks like 4 was the unlucky number for both the Wings and Tigers tonight as both lose 4-3
